Cammell Laird have confirmed that there has been another departure from the club as midfielder/forward Ryan Wignall has signed for Racing Montegnee in the Belgian League until the end of the season.
Ryan joined Lairds in late 2009 after a successful spell at North West Counties side AFC Liverpool and was a cult hero at Hope Street in his time there.
Whilst at Lairds Ryan showed the pace and potential that we were aware of and this attracted the attention of a number of clubs.
Manager Alex Hay stated “Ryan came and did a good job for us, his pace is lively enough to cause any defence problems and sadly for us at a club like Lairds, we do seem to be a showcase for young talent and sometimes we do lose players as a result which is great for the players concerned. Ryan was offered full time terms until the end of the season and at the end of the day, if you get offered a full time gig anywhere these days when playing part time it is very difficult to turn down, let alone in a decent League in mainland Europe so we wish Ryan all the best.”
