The committee of Willenhall Town are delighted to announce that Dave Porter has been appointed the new manager of the club, following the resignation of Steve Pomroy last week.
As a player, Dave enjoyed spells in the youth and reserve set ups at Port Vale, before moving on to Stafford Rangers. Unfortunately, Injury cut his career short before he moved more into coaching, starting off at Kidsgrove Athletic. He managed at Cradley Town, before moving to Market Drayton as assistant manager to Simon Line, where he stayed for 18 months. Before joining Willenhall, Dave was coaching at Midland Alliance side Rocester.
Dave will be joined by Mark Cox, who will be assistant manager, and Nick Cipolla, who will be goalkeeping coach.
Mark is a UEFA A licensed coach who is linked with local colleges in the Wolverhampton area. He worked for four years at Stoke City’s academy, and was an assistant manager at Chorley and St Helens. Mark also does some scouting work for Wolverhampton Wanderers.
As a player, Nick Cipolla spent his career at Port Vale, before playing for some of his local sides, such as Leek Town, Kidsgrove Athletic and Nantwich Town, before moving into a goalkeeping coaching capacity. After spending 4 years at Stoke City’s academy, he has also worked at AFC Telford, Eastwood Town and Leek Town. Nick runs his own goalkeeping academy has stated he is interested in helping any goalkeepers, and has urged any goalkeeper who wants coaching to contact Willenhall Town.
The new management team will take charge from Tuesday’s home game against Mickleover, and the committee would like to wish them the very best of luck, in what continue to be difficult circumstances for the club.
